Praise for "Lemonace"

TOMMY CASTRO (WINNER OF 4 HANDY AWARDS FOR 2010 INCLUDING BEST CONTEMPORARY BLUES ALBUM)

Ace finally met his match: Texas born blues singer Cathy Lemons. I think how tragic it would be if somehow they never met. Cathy has the great voice and clever lyrical mind and Ace has the grooves and the feels, and you put those elements together and it makes great songs. Cathy and Johnny have a unique and rare chemistry like Louis Prima and Keeley Smith, Delaney and Bonnie or Desi Arnaz and Lucille Ball. I don't think they realize just how much they complement each other....This is a strong and soulful effort...I am honored to have been asked to play on this record.

ANDY "BLUES BOY" GRIGG (REAL BLUES MAGAZINE)
"Top 100 CD Picks" for "Lemonace" 6 Bottle rating (usually reserved for the vintage greats).

I declare this to be the greatest thing I’ve heard so far in 2010!

Johnny and Cathy’s vocals are so seamless, perfectly matched and naturally soulful that you realize they are completely alone in this style/genre.

Cathy’s natural vocals ... drives home the claims by the West Coast crew that she’s the finest female vocalist with straight hair.

Listen to Johnny’s bass lines if you want to hear perfection .

Guitarist Pierre Le Corre is a funk tornado, while Stix shows off his freight train drumming.

Le Corre should be considered in the ranks of Kid Ramos and Rick Holmstrom when it comes to West Coast Guitar.

BRUCE EDWARDS (SUNDAY NIGHT BLUES PROJECT)
Johnny Ace plays the bass like it amplifies his heartbeat ...

Cathy Lemons is one of those women singers who can sing anything and make it compelling.

This CD ... is hard and deep and rich.

“I was surprised by the “Lemonace” disc as I haven’t heard of Cathy and Johnny before. They are so cool, mixing deep blues with some have-fun-with-me rhythm’n’blues and easy-going soul. This is party music all the way with some crazy performers laying down irresistible grooves. Beautiful discovery.”

CATHY LEMONS--SHE GOT IT!NOW THAT'S THE REAL BLUES!FUNKY!
--JOHN LEE HOOKER
This stunning debut com-bines traits of WestCoast blues into a vibrant, confident album, one of the best from a female blues vocalist in a long while.
--Hal Horowitz
Blues Revue
Lemons and Ace have put together a stellar crew of blues performers to help them out on “Dark Road”.... with such a collection of outstanding artists, the resulting music is effortlessly powerful and magnetic. Lemons' vocal character is potently dramatic, yet it pours out like sweet syrup

Big City Blues
"Dark Road" offers straight ahead covers and original tunes played with spare style and taste. Up-tempo blues (“Saying It Plain”) and dance-floor soul grooves (“Let Me Be Good”) are mixed with the occasional ballad (“Dirty Man”) on a play list that shows Lemons to be a skillful and expressive singer in a wide range of styles. If you like your blues sung rather than shouted, this is a disc to check out!

Living Blues
Smoother than Janis, with plenty of range and polish, her torchy pipes attack a melodic line with the ferocity of a femaile warrior! She could sing anything she wanted, and you'd want to hear more. Her distinctive somewhat non-traditional take on the blues genre puts her in a class by herself.
--Dallas Faulkner
Bay Arts & Music
Vocalist Cathy Lemons squeezes some fine work out of a stellar group of San Francisco Bay Area musicians including guitar stars Rusty Zinn, Tommy Castro, Steve Freund and exuberant pianist David Maxwell. Though those guys sit on top of the local heap in the Bay Area, they can’t outshine Lemons soulful, knowing vocals on "Dark Road."
